Major Lessons Children Can Learn From “Apples & Oranges”
“Apples & Oranges” by Ronald Martin is a child-friendly collection of famous stories from the Bible. Naturally, it contains valuable lessons that your child can pick up as you read them the book. To give you something to look forward to, here are some major lessons children can learn from “Apples & Oranges”!
Obeying God’s Will. The book starts with the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Aside from its easily comprehendible narration, you will find that the plot puts emphasis on the importance of obedience. Children may view Adam and Eve as their own representation, and God as their parents. The lesson to be learned is to obey our Moms and Dads for they especially know what’s best for us. Aside from Adam and Eve, Noah also displays obedience in the later part of the book!
Don’t Envy Others. In the story of Abel and Cain, the act of envy was depicted clear and was very present in the heart of Cain. What Cain ended up doing was not only against the Ten Commandments but was also a result of envy. That certain part of the book teaches children how envy could lead us to do the wrong thing. With this in mind, you can teach your child to think before acting up, and to practice or focus on uplifting one another instead of being envious.
Of course, these aren’t the only lessons one can find in “Apples & Oranges”. However, these are what stood out the most. If you are interested to share more of these lesson to your child, don’t waste another second.
